景美夜市 ft. TourMeAway｜兩小時挑戰11間夜市小吃，與外國夥伴們一起勇闖驚奇 Hunger Game

TourMeAway 是個希望讓世界認識台灣的組織，藉由英語導覽團，帶外國朋友們認識在地人的台北，深入了解我們的文化。其中包含五條固定的免費、付費行程，與其他客製化行程

TourMeAway is an organization providing English walking tours for travelers in Taipei. Through the tours, you can explore the local culture with friends around the world and have an in-depht knowledge of the beautiful city. There are 5 regular tours, including free or paid tours . You can order by request and ask for a customized one as well.

免費行程包含以城中地區為主的Old Town Taipei Tour，由大安森林公園出發，拜訪中正紀念堂、永康街等地的Taipei Chill-out Tour，與龍山寺周邊的Long-shon Temple Tour。例行的付費行程則包含體驗夜市文化的Hunger Game、造訪台北Pub crowl，更多資訊可以參考官網 TourMeAway.com

Free tours include Old Town Taipei Tour（228 Memorial Hall－Chengzhong Market－the Red House）, Taipei Chill-out Tour（Daan Park－Yongkang Street－Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall）, and Long-shon Temple Tour（Bopiliao Historic Bloc－Long-shon Temple－Huaxi Street market）.

Regular tours with fee include Hunger Game（Jingmei Night Market）and Pub crowl（3 pub+1 night club）.You can check their website for more information.

這次受邀參加TourMeAway的行程，有別於一般觀光客愛的士林、饒河、寧夏等夜市，Hunger game 選擇走訪景美夜市，一個在地人多、不過度壅擠，又能品嚐到各種台灣獨特美食的地方

每人費用600，雖然簡介上寫著能體驗到12種食物，但實際上是遠遠超過的。領隊也會不時關心我們是否吃飽，旅程結束時，可說是飽到天靈蓋了

This time, I was invited by TourMeAway to join their Hunger game tour. Different from Shilin, Raohe, Ningxia and other popular night markets, we visited a very local one－JinMei Night Market. Since it's a local night market, it isn't usually crowded. You can try Taiwanese traditional dishes and street food there without lining up too long.

According to the introduction, the participants will taste 12 local dishes in Hunger game. In fact, we got more than expected. The tour guide made sure whether everyone was full by the end of the amazing trip as well. If you are a food lover of Taiwanese food, make sure to prepare your stomach for the later 2-hours tour！

活動當天20:00在景美捷運站二號出口集合，領隊Violet向我們介紹了關於夜市的大小事，赫然發現自己雖是台灣人，對於這些看似日常的知識，也和其他七個國家的夥伴們一樣懵懵懂懂，覺得新鮮有趣

The tour started at 20:00, meeting at the entrance of Jingmei MRT Station (exit 2). We had 8 people from 7 countries tonight. Our guide, Violet, gave us a short introduction about the tour and the culture of night market. All the stories were new to me too, even though I grew up in Taiwan.

1. 阿郎鹽酥雞 A-lang Taiwanese chicken nuggets（popcorn chicken）

步入景美夜市外圍，第一站我們來到阿郎鹽酥雞，品嘗古早味鹽酥雞的同時，Violet 與我們解說鹽酥雞的點餐方式與吃法。倘若未來外國朋友們想自己點餐，也知道一些潛規則

「現在大家都喜歡吃一整片的雞排，不過鹽酥雞才是最傳統的炸雞」

Heading to the night market, the first stop was A-lang Taiwanese chicken nuggets . While we were having the crunchy and juicy chicken nuggets, Violet introduced the way to order fried chicken.

People like to have chicken fillets nowadays, but chicken nuggets is the most traditional one for natives. It’s diced chicken, deep fried. People like to choose other ingredients to deep-fry and have it mixed together with the chicken.

2. 古早味茶飲　traditional tea

接著是現代人也很少喝的傳統飲料，Violet將他們分成三級，洛神花茶、青草茶與苦茶，有趣的是，大部分的人都選擇了最具挑戰性的苦茶，一飲而盡，透清涼的

老實說這苦韻僅止於口而未深入喉，要是真濃，可能連1/3杯都讓人難以下嚥

Next, we tried the traditional tea, which isn't quite familiar to our generation either. We could choose between 3 version：floral tea（ roselle tea）, herbal or bitter tea. To my surprise, most of the people chose the most challenging one and finished them within a few seconds.

穿過景美夜市的發源地，集應廟，來到夜市主街，寬敞的道路兩旁攤販密集，各式滷味、炭烤、蛋餅、炸物與飲料等，都是我們熟悉的味道

Chi-ying Temple is the center of JinMei Night Market, where the street vendors started to gather. Passing through the temple is the main street of the night market. You can find Taiwanese common snacks here, like braised dishes, BBQ, fried food, Chinese omelet, drinks etc...

3. 景美上海生煎包 JinMei pan fried bun

轉角的上海生煎包可說是景美夜市的門神，掀開木蓋，噴香的蒸氣撲鼻，白白胖胖的生煎包緊緊相連，一整鍋澎湃，可愛的模樣讓人忍不住想咬上一口

鬆彈的皮、焦脆的底，嚼勁的麵香隨著脆裂的聲響迸發開來，高麗菜和韭菜的比例恰好，豬油炒出蔬菜鮮甜，和著白芝麻與外皮的滋味，大大滿足！

JinMei pan-fried bun is one of the most popular shop on the street. When the staff opened the wooden cover, the fragrant vapor greeted us. A pan of sizzling pan-fried buns made my mouth water. I couldn't wait to get one！

Finally, I got a vegetable one. The outside was either fluffy and chewy. The smell of the dough filled my mouth as I heard the crispy sound from the well-pan-fried bottom of the bun. For the inner stuffing, cabbage and chives were sauted with pig oil to make them super juicy. We all liked it very much.

4. 邱記炭烤 Chou Jia BBQ food stand

第四站邱記炭烤可不是只有吃串烤那麼簡單，Violet特地選了雞皮、雞心、雞胗、雞屁股等不同部位，讓我們隨機抽一支，互相分享，再以人人都愛的甜不辣結尾

The fourth stop is a BBQ food stand. Violet bought chicken skin and innards, including the heart, gizzard, and the butt for a little game. We randomly selected one, and Violet told us what they were after we tried few kinds of them. To be honest, I liked the chewy gizzards very much but didn't want to give the butt for one bite. It's too fatty for me. Tempura was better. It's a kind of fish cake, common in Asia food culture.

5. 快樂地瓜球 Fried sweet potato balls

快樂地瓜球是夜市常見的連鎖品牌，地瓜球個頭大、微軟帶嚼，吃得出地瓜香，外國朋友也挺喜歡

The must try snack in night market！Fried sweet potato balls are made from yellow, purple sweet potato and tapioca starch. Once the dough are prepared, the vendor cuts it into small pieces and press-fried in the wok. It's airly, crispy and chewy, and not being oily. You will fall in love with the delightful sweet potato flavor.

6. 豬血糕 Blood cake

豬血糕裹上厚厚一層花生粉，黏黏密密，外國朋友們皺著眉吃完，也說不上喜歡不喜歡。不過出乎他們意料的是，並沒有想像中的血味，但味道仍然太複雜

I do like blood cakes, one of the so called＂strange＂food in Taiwan.

Blood cake is a mixture of pig's blood and glutinous rice, steaming into solid patty. After we ordered, the vendor serve it with soy sauce, peanut powder and coriander. Although it doesn't taste like blood at all, the texture is complex for other people. If you ask me what it tastes like, I would say it's a bit like black pudding and the peanut powder makes it more delicious.

7. 阿昌麵線臭豆腐 Achang vermicelli & stinky tofu

來到傳說中要抽號碼牌的臭豆腐店，先不論好吃與否，一大盤45，價格實在便宜。臭豆腐炸得透徹，外酥內軟的，毫不油膩，台式泡菜清新。但可惜的是豆腐本身香氣不夠，醬汁偏淡，沒有太大的記憶點

大部分的外國朋友們淺嘗則止，不能習慣這樣的味道，不過也有人非常喜歡，恨不得掃掉整盤臭豆腐！

Stinky tofu is the tofu that has been fermented. Like the other fermented food in the world, it’s popular for locals but not quite accepted by foreigners. Violet told us there were 3 levels to the stinky tofu – fried, BBQ, and the one which boiled with soup. This time we were trying the basic version, served with pickled cabbage, sauce and garlic.

( To be honest, we don’t give stinky tofu “levels” in Taiwan lol）

8. Grass jelly milk & Lemon aiyu jelly

吃完臭豆腐來杯飲料解膩，等待仙草鮮奶與檸檬愛玉時，Violet向大家推薦了可不可熟成紅茶、迷克夏、幸福堂等手搖飲料店，想一嘗台灣之寶，更有方向

Grass jelly milk and lemon aiyu jelly are traditional drink in Taiwain, sometimes we also add bubbles for richer taste. Violet recommended KEBUKE, Milkshop, 50 lan，Ten Ren's Tea and XingFuTang etc...

For Taiwanese locals, we usually have Kebuke, Milkshop and 50 lan！

9. 高家雙管四神湯　Gao Jia Four spirits Soup

在地經營超過四十年，高家雙管四神湯剛好集結了四神湯、蚵仔麵線和油飯三種傳統小吃，還有最出名的，把豬腸套了兩層的雙管

Gao Jia Four spirits Soup is a local shop which serves traditional dishes over forty years.

蚵仔麵線 Oyster vermicelli ／四神湯 four spirits soup　NT.60／35

碩大的蚵仔裹了一層薄粉，湯頭清麵線滑，風格清雅，加點醋更能增添層次。四神湯裡的藥酒香鮮明，枸杞味溫和，腸子乾淨新鮮，只可惜裏頭只見薏仁一種非四神配料，想吃料好實在的四神湯，大稻埕妙口四神湯肉包還是我的最愛

The big oyster was covered by a thin layer of potato startch, soaking in the plain soup. Vermicelli, or flour-rice, is a kind of noodle which taste smooth and easily be cut. If you are a fan of this kind of noodle soup, don't forget to visit A-Choung flour-rice noodles in Ximending.

Four spirits soup contains four kinds of Chinese medicine: lotus seed, Chinese yam, gorgon fruit, and poria cocos (Hoelens). However, we have Job's Tears rather than four spirits in most of the shop because it's cheaper. Pork small intestine and medicine wine was added to the soup. It tasted mild and comfortable, benefiting the digestive system. I would advise you to try Miaokou four spirits soup and meat buns for a bowl of most delicious one I have had.

令人驚豔的是，套成雙管的腸子處理得非常乾淨，嚼勁十足，讓人忍不住一口接著一口，成為我當天晚上最喜歡的食物！

The vendor put one intestine into another, serving with ginger and soy sauce. They were well-cleaned and chewy, not having any unpleasant aftertaste. It was the most amazing dish I have tried that night！

10. 口吅品麻辣臭豆腐 Spicy stinky tofu

這站原本只是路過，同行的夥伴們卻被濃郁的中藥湯頭吸引，各外帶了一份麻辣臭豆腐與鴨血。沒想到大家嘗試後眼睛都亮了起來，對這 level 3 的臭豆腐讚不絕口，也愛鴨血的獨特風味。吸飽了湯汁的臭豆腐很快便一掃而空，其實三者之中，我也最愛這味

It wasn't one of the stop on our agenda, but we were attracted by the flavourful smell of the soup. After having the so called "level 3" stinky tofu, everyone agreed that it was better than the fried one. The tofu and duck blood were both appetizing and fantastic for them, and they also told me they would have it again soon. Maybe we should change the order of stinky tofu, right？

11. 景美豆花 JinMei Dou hua (pudding tofu)

最後一站我們來到在地老牌甜品店，景美豆花。45元的豆花可加3種料，豪邁的加入剉冰與些許糖水，一大碗公可做兩人分吃，料多實在，非常划算！

這兩碗包含珍珠、紅豆、綠豆、仙草、蜜芋頭等配料，豆花滑順帶點焦香，豆味不重但給得份量多。蜜芋頭不須額外加價，又甜又綿密的，怕太膩可以少加點糖水；外國沒有芋頭，這味道獲得大家一致的喜愛，回去的路上我也推薦了不少台灣芋頭小吃給大家

Finally we got the dessert. Dou hua is my favorite dessert, which is made of soymilk and served with sweet ingredients. It could be either cold or hot, with sugar syrup, soymilk, milk and other soup you want. This time, we have boba, red beans, green beans, grass jelly and sweet taros. Tofu pudding melted in my mouth along with shaved ice. We all liked the dessert, especially the sweet taros. I also recommended them some taro-made food to buy on the way home.

Hungar game 是一個很棒的 tour，雖然我是台灣人，當天活動結束後卻也非常興奮，不只嘗試了景美夜市的在地美食，各種食物、夜市的故事更讓我收穫滿滿。如果你不想來個不過度拘束、又有在地人陪伴的旅行，TourMeAway的導覽團適合初次來到台北的你，更適合早已認識台北，卻沒有好好深入了解它的美的朋友們！
